What is your “Speaker Superpower”?
My superpower as a speaker lies in my ability to weave personal storytelling with wisdom, creating a deep, genuine connection with my audience. By sharing my journey—especially the lessons I’ve learned about resilience, faith, and honoring legacy—I invite people to view their lives through a new lens. My stories are more than reflections; they empower listeners to embrace their potential and cultivate a champion’s mindset.
What I deliver is more than just a spark of inspiration; it’s a call to action. I challenge each person in the room to believe in their unique strengths, understand that they were truly born to win, and know they possess the power to overcome any obstacle in their path. I want each listener to leave feeling uplifted and ready to take tangible steps toward their purpose with courage and conviction.
How does your message empower others?
My message empowers people to unlock their potential and embrace a mindset rooted in resilience, purpose, and intentional action. Through my speeches and coaching programs, I guide individuals and organizations to look beyond immediate challenges and to see the bigger picture of who they can become. I encourage people to recognize their strengths, often hidden beneath layers of doubt or hesitation, and to tap into abilities they may not even realize they possess.
I aim to inspire them to own their personal growth and development fully. I emphasize the importance of cultivating a “champion’s mindset”—one that transforms how they approach life’s obstacles and allows them to see every setback as an opportunity for growth. By fostering this mindset, I aim to help people not only overcome challenges but also walk forward with confidence, purpose, and a renewed belief in their ability to achieve greatness.
What inspired you to start speaking or coaching?
My journey into speaking and coaching started with a powerful realization: For years, I’d been helping others navigate their challenges—whether as an educator, pastor, or mentor—but there was a more profound calling within me to reach more people. There was a pivotal moment when I witnessed my words’ impact on someone struggling. At that moment, it all clicked. I felt a profound sense of purpose, knowing that this was what I was meant to do.

I realized that the lessons I’d learned, the victories I’d achieved, and even the setbacks I’d faced weren’t just for me—they were meant to be shared. From that point on, I committed myself to inspiring others to see their potential, overcome their obstacles, and embrace the champion within them. Every time I step onto a stage or lead a coaching session, I carry that sense of purpose, knowing that this work truly matters.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received in your career as a speaker?
The best advice I ever received in my career as a speaker was straightforward yet incredibly impactful: “Stay true to your story.” When I first started, I felt the pressure to fit into a specific mold, to present myself in a way that felt polished but wasn’t entirely me. A mentor reminded me that authenticity resonates far more deeply than striving for perfection. That simple guidance has been my anchor through moments of self-doubt and uncertainty, helping me focus on sharing the heart of my message rather than worrying about appearances. This advice has kept me grounded and reminded me to show up as my authentic self. By being honest and open, I’ve connected with audiences on a level that goes beyond words. Every time I step onto a stage, I aim to create a space where people feel seen and inspired, strengthening my impact.
What are some of your most memorable moments or achievements in this field?
One of my most memorable moments in this field was giving a keynote speech to a room full of college basketball referees. I wasn’t just talking about officiating; I was discussing leadership, resilience, and what it means to carry influence beyond the court. Watching their faces as my words resonated, seeing that “aha” moment reminded me of why I do what I do.
Another proud milestone was the release of my book, “The Champion’s Mind: How to Defeat Giants and Win,” which allowed me to share my journey and life lessons with an even broader audience. Writing it was no easy feat, but hearing from readers who found inspiration and strength in those pages made every challenge worth it. Whenever someone shares how my message has helped them navigate a challenging moment, overcome a fear, or simply see their potential in a new light, I feel an immense sense of fulfillment. These moments fuel my passion.
How do you stay motivated and inspired to continually grow your influence?
Staying motivated to grow my influence isn’t just about ambition—it’s about purpose. Can I say that again? It’s about purpose. I remind myself daily why I started this journey: to empower others, uplift communities, and share the wisdom passed down to me. One practice that keeps me grounded is reflection. Each morning, I take a few moments to pray, meditate, and set my intentions for the day. I think about who I want to be and what I want to give to the world. This simple ritual reconnects me with my “why.”

I also stay fueled by continuous learning. As a leader, I can’t pour from an empty cup, so I make time for reading, listening to mentors, and expanding my understanding. Honestly, it’s the people I meet along the way who inspire me the most—their stories remind me that there’s always room to grow, give, and serve more deeply.
How does your brand reflect your core values?
At the core of my work are values that my grandmother passed down to me—integrity, resilience, and a deep sense of purpose. I believe in showing up authentically, sharing both the triumphs and the setbacks, because I know real connections are made in those honest moments. My brand is a reflection of my commitment to lifting others up, inspiring them to see their own potential, and walking with them as they overcome their challenges.

Resilience is a big one for me. Life isn’t always easy, and I don’t pretend it is. I want people to know that setbacks are part of the journey, but so is the ability to rise again. My brand embodies this spirit, reminding others they are stronger than they think.
Ultimately, my brand is about purpose. I’m here to serve, empower, transform, and leave each person I work with a little more equipped and inspired than before.
What do you want audiences to remember after experiencing your presentation or session?
When people walk away from one of my presentations or sessions, I want them to feel something shift inside—a spark, a renewed belief in their potential. I want them to remember that they were born to overcome and thrive and that they already have the strength to tackle any challenge. I want them to see themselves through a new lens, one that’s shaped by resilience and purpose, not by their setbacks or self-doubt.

My goal is for them to feel both empowered and equipped. I don’t just want to inspire; I want to leave them with practical tools that they can take with them and apply to their lives. If they go with a sense of purpose, feeling connected to a deeper part of themselves and the path ahead, I know I’ve done my job. My message is simple: You were born to win and be capable of greatness.
What has been your biggest learning experience as a speaker or consultant?
One of my most significant learning experiences as a speaker was during a presentation during which I focused so much on delivering a polished, “perfect” performance that I lost sight of connecting with the audience. I had rehearsed every word and gesture, but I wasn’t truly present in the moment, and I could feel that disconnect. Afterward, I realized that my drive for perfection had actually created distance rather than building rapport.

That experience taught me a powerful lesson: people don’t connect with perfection; they connect with authenticity. Now, I focus on being fully present and genuine. I allow room for spontaneity, adapt to the energy in the room, and show up as my true self—even if it means embracing a little vulnerability. This shift has not only made my presentations more impactful but has also deepened my connection with audiences. I learned that showing up “real” is more powerful than showing up “perfect.”
What advice would you give to aspiring speakers, coaches, or consultants who want to make an impact?
My advice for anyone looking to make an impact as a speaker, coach, or consultant is simple: lead with authenticity and focus on serving, not just “performing.” Your strongest assets are your story, unique voice, and genuine passion for helping others. Don’t get caught up trying to imitate others in the industry or worrying about being “polished” enough. Instead, hone in on what makes you, you. People are drawn to realness and feel your message more deeply when you show up fully as yourself.

Another tip? Always be learning and growing. Stay curious, read widely, and seek out mentors who can help you elevate your game. This field is about more than just speaking—it’s about creating value and fostering transformation. Build genuine connections, stay grounded in your purpose, and remember that your influence grows as you consistently show up to serve. In this work, heart and authenticity will take you further than perfection ever could.
