What is your “Speaker Superpower”?
My speaker superpower is my ability to connect with the audience through storytelling. I know how to structure my story and use vivid descriptions and sensory details which makes my content more memorable. I know how to incorporate emotion and humor in my speeches which helps be connect with the audience.
How does your message empower others?
I believe that everyone is born with a gift. Our gifts are aligned with our passion and divine assignment. When we use our gifts to help others, it will lead to success fulfillment, prosperity, and inner peace. When an individual is at peace, there is peace in their environment can include home, work, school, and the community. I coach individuals to identify their authentic self and what they love to do. Once they discover who they are and their gift and passion, we identify how they can use them to help others. We develop a blueprint with short-term and long-term goals as well as strategies and activities to implement daily, weekly, and monthly. Monitoring these actions is very important for the full implementation of whatever the goal is. I act as an accountability partner to make sure the tasks are completed, and adjustments are made if needed. The outcome is to have individuals align their gift and passion to live in their purpose which will lead to happiness, contentment, and a sense of fulfillment. People who live in their purpose can make a positive impact on others and the world which will also lead to inner peace.
What inspired you to start speaking or coaching?
As a child, I was always on stage in school, church, and plays. I’ve always been comfortable in front of an audience. Over 60 years ago my great-grandmother told me my gift was my voice and intuition and I would use my gifts to help others one day. When I was hired as a high school principal, part of the job was speaking to parents, students, staff, my peers, and the community. However, it was the loss of two of my students to violence that accelerated my need to speak to larger audiences. I retired and started my own business speaking and writing in inner peace, world peace, essential soft skills for effective leadership, the observation process, and creating ambassadors of peace. I was inducted as a United Nations Peace Ambassador two years ago and now I speak all over the world on peace.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received in your career as a speaker?
The best advice I received in my career as a speaker was to use the three E’s, Engage, Educate, and Entertain. In every speech I write, I make sure I engage the audience, educate them with at least three main points, and entertain them through my unique storytelling. Another piece of advice that was given to me and I found very important is to know your audience and to tailor the message around their interest and needs.
What are some of your most memorable moments or achievements in this field?
One of the highlights of my speaking career was in London England at the Women of Heart Awards. I presented a speech on inner peace and world peace for 15 minutes. After I delivered the speech, I was crowned the Emerald Queen of Peace. It was a magical moment. I have received several honors for speaking including the Rise to Greater Speaker of the Year in Alberta Canada.
The Phenomenal Woman Award
The Virginia Burnette Girl Boss Award
Speaklife Award
Global Impact Award
Women Doing it Big Award
Women of Virtue Walking In Excellence Award
How do you stay motivated and inspired to continually grow your influence?
I stay motivated to speak to leaders, schools, organizations, and the world about peace because of my desire to make this world a better place. I believe it’s everyone’s responsibility to make this world a more peaceful place by raising our children to be peaceful. People need to understand that love conquers hate. Light will take away darkness. Faith is more powerful than fear. I’ve watched my students struggle with losing their friends to gun violence and the trauma it caused for them. That’s why I continue to promote healing and teach people how to have compassion and empathy for others. I teach people how to attack the problem, not the person. I stay motivated and continue to grow my influence because my message is powerful and people listen to what I have to say. Often when I’m speaking I see people in the audience nodding their heads or shedding tears as I share my message with them. I know that I am making an impact.
How does your brand reflect your core values?
My brand is all about peace and my core values align with that. Compassion, Empathy, Respect, Social Responsibility, Communication. I wrote a Creed with 16 Steps to Become an Ambassador of Peace and my core values and beliefs an embedded within that Creed:

What do you want audiences to remember after experiencing your presentation or session?
After I train leaders, I want them to remember that it’s important for them to foster a positive climate and culture in their organization. This will impact the outcomes of the organization in terms of productivity, open communication, problem-solving, and establishing trust, just to name a few. When I present to an audience on how to become an ambassador of peace, I want them to remember the 16 steps and teach them to someone else. My creed is always available for a free download on my website.
What has been your biggest learning experience as a speaker or consultant?
My biggest learning experience as a speaker is being adaptable. I prepared a speech with a PowerPoint once; however, the technology was not working. I remained calm and presented the information from memory. I printed the slides in advance just in case something like this happened. I delivered the presentation and engaged the audience using my art of storytelling. For every main point, I had an engaging story. One of the best learning experiences as a coach was knowing that my client was not ready for coaching until she had therapy to deal with some early trauma in life that was impacting her from living in her purpose. I asked the right questions to determine the client’s needs, situation, and goals. Coaching is goal-oriented and therapy is for healing and processing. Knowing what the client needs can help them assess what the client can benefit from.
What advice would you give to aspiring speakers, coaches, or consultants who want to make an impact?
If you want to make an impact on an audience, be sure to be your authentic self, know your audience, always be prepared and work on your delivery. Be sure to get a coach if you need to develop as a speaker. Everyone has a voice and a story; however, you may need help in learning how to deliver your message. Also, know that body language is an important component of public speaking. Make eye contact, have great posture, and pay attention to the audience’s reactions. My advice for coaches is, to be sure to ask the right questions at the beginning of the session to determine why the client is there.
